I guess I’ll be the chick on the internet talking about poop today…because I care *serious tone as I put my hand on your shoulder while we walk along the beach like a kotex commercial.
But seriously, as your health and fitness coach, I’m here to tell you that having healthy digestion and elimination is key. In fact, if you’re not pooping every day, to the feeling of complete elimination, we need to move that to the top of the priority list, my friend.
True story: I’ve had clients and friends tell me that they only go once per week. Once. Per. Week! It makes me wonder how they manage to get around. I just imagine myself feeling grumpy and out of it from having six days worth of food sitting in my intestines.
Healthy daily bowel movements have the power to change your life. It’s what I believe. There. I said it. I know that sounds melodramatic, but I have good reason to believe that daily bowel movements are cornerstone to a healthy, happy life. If you think about what you feel like when you’re constipated, I’m sure you’ll agree.
Let’s not just go by our feelings, though. Let’s look at the facts.
Healthy digestion and elimination have the power to:
- Foster a healthy balance of beneficial bacteria in your gut
- Keep your skin clear (via the gut/skin axis)
- Keep your brain sharp (via the gut/brain axis)
- Reduce your risk of colon issues, like diverticula, in the future
- Prevent purification of stool in the colon, which is toxic to the body
- Enhance sleep
- Keep bloating to a minimum
And on and on.
Although I have this feeling the list I just gave you wasn’t even needed. You and I both know how important daily bowel movements are.
So in today’s video I go over some helpful tips on how to poop better.
None of these are affiliate links, these are simply the brands that I like, and have used myself.
If you want to learn more about poop, gut health, digestion, and some more medical lingo and symptoms, I highly recommend Dr. Robynne Chutkan’s book, GutBliss. If you’re a woman, and you have a colon, you should definitely give this book a read.
