Lean Beauty Tips

I am a big believer in keeping beauty & skin care products as natural as possible. What you put on your skin is absorbed into your blood stream. Some people don’t believe or realize this fact, but it’s true.

Think about it…that’s how nicorette patches, hormone creams, & birth control patches work!

What I mainly steer clear of (as much as possible anyway) are parabens. Parabens have been shown to cause estrogen-dominance, metaboic issues, toxicity, and can even cause skin damage (i.e. premature aging, redness, acne & sensitivity to the sun).

Look on labels for anything that ends with the phrase “paraben”. They come in various forms, like methylparaben.

The ironic thing is, most of the $300 “magical” beauty creams are filled with parabens! So, the truth is, those overpriced wrinkle creams could do more harm than good.

If you ever have some fancy schmancy ad staring you in the face, with an airbrushed supermodel promising you “perfect skin”, check the label for parabens and save that bundle of cash for skin care that really works.

I’ve learned that the best skincare is the simplest, leanest skincare & haircare. And by “lean”, I mean “sparing the junk”. Keeping both as natural and organic as possible will bring the best results!

Don’t get me wrong, there are some beauty products that I own that are not all natural…like my Crest 3d White toothpaste…I love that stuff, even though it’s not that “lean”. But I make an effort to keep about 75-80% of my skin & haircare natural & organic.

With all that said, here are some natural, paraben free products I am LOVING this month…I’m sure you’ll like them too 🙂

Carol’s Daughter

This line is awesome for anyone with curly, coarse, dry hair (like mine). I got the Monoi Shampoo, Black Vanilla Conditioner, & leave in conditioner. All of them are “like buttah”…oh gosh. Did I really just say that?

Specifically, I LOVE the Black Vanilla leave in conditioner. I prefer to use it on my DRY hair to make beachy waves. And I must add that it smells SOOOOO SOOOO SOOOOO good. It’s practically a hair perfume. If you like vanilla, this is the epitome of Vanilla. You won’t need a perfume if you use this stuff.

(Note: I wasn’t that crazy about this stuff on my wet hair. It seems to work MUCH BETTER as a refresher or beachy wave styler. LOVE it on my dry hair though)

I’m confident that this leave in conditioner will work beautifully for ANY hair type.

Here’s the beachy wave look I did with this leave in conditioner. My hair is naturally VERY kinky/wavy/coarse. I blew out my hair yesterday, so it was striaight-ish. I curled a few pieces here and there, and typically spray sea salt..

but today I used this Black Vanilla stuff and scrunched it, and it worked SO WELL..wish you could smell me through the computer haha!

I use the Tarte Tinted Moisterizer (agent 14 color) every single day.
I prefer this over ANY higher end foundation. I’ve grown to love this so much. Some of you ask how I get a “glowy” complexion…and I’m fairly sure it’s that this foundation has teeny-tiny little sparkles (not visible unless you look very closely). These act as light reflectors, and diffuse imperfections. Can’t say enough about this tinted moisturizer.

If there is one thing I will not leave my house without, it’s mascara. I got a sample of the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara & I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It gave me great length & definition…although it’s not a “night time” mascara…it’s more of a dainty, feminine lash without much volume. But still, I’ll be using this all summer long.

Here’s three coats of this mascara on my lashes…even with three coats, there’s NO CLUMPS!!!

Burt’s Bees
Sweating is WONDERFUL for your skin, and helps the pores purge toxins and excess sebum.

But try to avoid letting the sweat dry on your face. That could cause congestion and black heads. I use the Burt’s Bees towelettes to wipe my face off after a workout. It tingles slightly, but also leaves my face really refreshed!

A natural, paraben free sunscreen I LOVE is the ALBA spf 45 sunscreen.  I’ve been using this for about a year, and it works great. It smells like Miami to me…tropical and a little like pineapples.

Alrighty. Those were all the products I had on my mind…hope this little beauty post gave you some new info! Have a wonderful day, you gorgeous thing you 🙂
